About Ramon

I am a self-taught creative generalist with a diverse background in business operations, mechanical engineering, culinary arts, and illustration. After living in 7 countries and picking up 4 languages along the way, I have now decided to pursue a career in UX design. The field is deeply psychological and emotional which is endlessly fascinating to me.

My decision to transition into this field was driven by my passion for listening, user testing, and enhancing existing features to increase accessibility and usability. Even before discovering the UX design field, I had a knack for identifying usability issues while using interfaces.

Since transitioning into UX design, I have been committed to continued learning and skill development to become a better designer. My goal is to expand my knowledge and hone my skills in this field in a creative work environment.

What I value at work

After working in a few industries outside of design, I’ve come to appreciate a few things that make me the most productive in the workplace.

📖 Learning new things

I try to learn new things every day and being in an environment where learning and sharing ideas is encouraged brings out my most innovative self.

🎯 Clear goals

I enjoy being in generalist however, I struggle a lot when the expectations of a project or task are not clearly defined. If an endpoint is not placed, my mind will continue to think about a problem.

👥 Collaboration

As much as I can independently finish projects, I also equally enjoy working in a team and collaborating to develop a more robust project solution.

☎️ Communication

I have realized that communication is the easiest and the hardest thing to do. Therefore, I value organizations and teams that do their best to communicate good and bad things to team members.

What does creative generalist mean?

I am a self-taught creative generalist who has spent a lot of time over the years pursuing hobbies that I’ve been of interest to me and that I have now become important to how I express myself throughout my design process.

📹 Video Editing

When YouTube was first created, I was an early adopter and fell in love with the filmmaking process. I wrote, shot, and edited over 150 videos and 10 podcast episodes, though most of them are private now

📷 Food Photography

I have been actively practicing photography since 2010 and have photographed a variety of subject matter however food photography is the most exciting to me. I feel like I’m in the cooking without actually cooking.

🎨 Graphic design

I have designed, produced and mounted many designs including brochures, menus, logos, uniforms, and brand guidelines for small businesses

🖌️ Visual Art

I have been drawing since I was a child and it has been one of the things that have kept me balanced throughout most of my life. I’ve had 3 exhibitions of mainly paintings and Illustrations
